With the ground being so icy there is very little to be done in the garden at the moment. I have been keeping an eye on the Broad Bean shoots and the Brassicas and deterring the pigeons from having a new year feast. The over-wintering Onion sets are doing well and also need protecting, but in this case it's from the crows, who for some perverse reason just want to pull them out of the ground and leave them lying on the surface. Crow humour I guess?

Last week we had a Clematis flower open, I can't remember what type it is, but I do know it should be flowering in June/July not December. Must be a very confused plant.

Now it's time to get back to the catalogues and start going through the summer veg.
