The children are back to school at last and now with spare time coming out of my ears its time to get on with the Autumn jobs in the garden. Tidying up the garden and the allotment are the first jobs, and its a great time to reflect on the successes and failures of the year. For example next year I won't be growing such large quantities of Radish. I'm not sure what came over me this year, but we ended up with vast quantities of the blighters in every meal, and I've given most of them away. I'm sure most of the village have spent the summer burping away like a demijohns of fermenting wine. Other changes for next year will include Blight resistant Potatoes, and more brassicas.

This weekend is the Dorset County Show, so I had better get off and polish my beans. Hopefully the 50mm of rain forecast for us in the South West on Friday won't wash the tents away.
