First frost this morning! Being an early riser, Maggie the puppy was nagging me to let her out for her morning ablutions, and being still on the young side I have to accompany her so the cats don't bully her. Whilst outside we were greeted by a beautiful, cold, starlight morning with just a hint of mist lying low on the ground. As I watched the sky brighten gradually I could see what seemed to be a frost on the flat roof of the school next door. Indeed it was frost, and with it's arrival comes the uncertainty of frosts until mid spring next year.

Spring may be a long way off, but it is time to sow spring bulbs. A useful tip when sowing bulbs for a more natural display, toss a hand full of bulbs on the ground and then plant them where they land. This is a lot more random than trying to place the bulbs.

This weekend, weather permitting, I will be making cider. We have collected quite a few apples from various sources and are now ready to put in a days work 'scratting' and pressing them into barrels. Hopefully, the first batch maybe ready for testing around the end of the year.
